An overly dramatic fictionalization of the making of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! I took...quite a few liberties with the truth. Hooray for artistic license!
So, this is my submission to Equestria Daily's December Draw-Off. Just in time, too! First, I'd like to list and give thanks to anyone whose work I may have referenced or otherwise drawn inspiration from: -, who ponified James "Wootie" Wootton (the red pony) and Daniel Ingram (the brown one) in one of his fantastic coloring books. - who created a pony of Jayson Thiessen and William Anderson, which I referenced for color, mane style and Cutie Mark. - who created Wild Fire, the yellow pegasus that here represents herself. - who deisgned the Fausticorn, and who created this wonderful show that we're all enjoying so much.
Thank you all
Of course, dozens more people work diligently to bring us Friendship is Magic, but I couldn't have possibly shown that without working myself twice to death. Think of this as a little love letter, straight from my pen to your hearts. A thank you. After all, without all of you working invisibly behind the animated curtain, we wouldn't have all been brought together. And *that* is magic.
As for the piece itself, I have to say I'm rather happy with how it came out. For about 3/4 of the time I was working on it, it was just this big ugly mess of lines and colors and crap, and I considered giving up on it more than once. I'm glad I didn't. In other words, this piece was, for me, the Final Boss of 2011.
I had a whole thing I was gonna write with this. Multiple paragraphs and everything. But I have to cut this uncharacteristically short, because hot DAMN I am drained as all hell right now. I'll just direct you here, to my Christmas message and one of my favorite videos: [link]
Again, thank you. All of you in this community who gather together to talk and look at art and read stories and laugh and be friendly. All of you who decided that maybe being a little friendlier was more important than internet schadenfreude. All of those who work their fingers to the bone to give us something that we love so much. And all of you here. Thank you.
Hasbro owns the ponies. Happy New Year's, everyone. Enjoy!
