So, this is the comic I've been working on. Yup, ponies go to war. Why? Well, because I think it'll be fun. It's a lighthearted adventure, so don't be expecting The Hurt Locker or Apocalypse now in pony form (though I would totally read those if someone decided to draw or write them).
This fandom has a peculiar obsession with putting our favorite pastel equines in situations that they probably would never come across in their universe. Some people find it odd. Others think it's abhorrent. I revel in it.
There's a lot of fun to be had at the expense of cute and/or innocent characters. Even more to be had by throwing such characters into unfamiliar situations. We want to see how these characters would react (or at least how we think they would), so we throw everything from videogames to Cthulhu at them. I decided to throw them in what's quickly turning out to be a rather silly mixture of Vietnam and Metal Gear Solid.
How long will this end up being? However long it takes to tell the story. Even if I fail spectaccularly at what I'm trying to do (that'd be lighthearted comedy), I'm still going to stick it out until the end. With currently 4 and a half pages complete and a penciled-out plan for the story, I'm all in. Ready your body.
On a different note, I'm not sure I entirely like how this came out. It was the first ponies I'd ever drawn, and I decided to sketch it first, then do a trace over that for lineart. Just seems so stiff. Also, kind of phoned it in with the backgrounds (that will probably never change. Ever).
I look forward to going on this little adventure with whoever decides to tag along. I'll try to keep the descriptions to 1 or 2 sentences after this, for brevity's sake. Enjoy!
Very nice drawing and story so far (I read up to page 14)
well, one thing, can u plz give a link to the next comic on every Mares of War?
